چکیده

Optical and infrared monitoring of the afterglow site of gamma-ray burst (GRB) 031203 has revealed a brightening source embedded in the host galaxy, which we attribute to the presence of a supernova (SN) related to the GRB (" SN 031203 "). We present details of the discovery and evolution of SN 031203 from 0.2 to 92 days after the GRB, derived from SMARTS consortium photometry in I and J bands. A template type Ic lightcurve, constructed from SN 1998bw photometry, is consistent with the peak brightness of SN 031203 although the lightcurves are not identical. Differential astrometry reveals that the SN, and hence the GRB, occurred less than 300h −1 71 pc (3 σ) from the apparent galaxy center. The peak of the supernova is brighter than the optical afterglow suggesting that this source is intermediate between a strong GRB and a supernova.

The J-band Light Curve of SN 2003lw, Associated with GRB 031203

At z = 0.1055, the gamma-ray burst GRB 031203 is one of the two nearest GRBs known. Using observations from the Very Large Array (VLA) and Chandra X-ray Observatory we derive sub-arcsecond localizations of the radio and X-ray afterglow of this GRB. We present near-infrared observations of the supernova SN 2003lw, which exploded in the host galaxy of the GRB 031203. Our deep, high resolution Mag...

The supernova 2003 lw associated with X - ray flash 031203 ,

The X-Ray Flash (XRF), 031203 with a host galaxy at z = 0.1055, is, apart from GRB 980425, the closest γ-Ray Burst (GRB) or XRF known to date. We have monitored its host galaxy from 1–100 days after the burst. In spite of the high extinction to the source and the bright host, a significant increase and subsequent decrease has been detected in the apparent brightness of the host, peaking between...

Lw and Grb 031203 : a Bright Supernova for a Faint Gamma - Ray Burst

Optical and near-infrared observations of the gamma-ray burst GRB031203, at z = 0.1055, are reported. A very faint afterglow is detected superimposed to the host galaxy in our first infrared JHK observations, carried out ∼ 9 hours after the burst. Subsequently, a rebrightening is detected in all bands, peaking in the R band about 18 rest-frame days after the burst. The rebrightening closely res...

The host galaxy of GRB 031203 : a new spectroscopic study

Aims. The host galaxy of the long-duration gamma-ray burst (GRB) 031203 (HG 031203) offers a precious opportunity to study in detail the environment of a nearby GRB. The aim is to better characterize this galaxy and analyse the possible evolution with time of the spectroscopic quantities we derive. Methods. We analyse HG 031203 using a set of optical spectra acquired with the ESO-VLT and Keck t...

GRBs Optical follow - up observation at Lulin observatory , Taiwan ( ∗ )

— The Lulin GRB program, using the Lulin One-meter Telescope (LOT) in Taiwan started in July 2003. Its scientific aims are to discover optical counterparts of XRFs and short and long GRBs, then to quickly observe them in multiple bands. Thirteen follow-up observations were provided by LOT between July 2003 and Feb. 2005. One host galaxy was found at GRB 031203. Two optical afterglows were detec...
